The word out in the shuls is that Carlos & Gabby’s is now open in the Bronx! The restaurant will be offering all the usual things including eat in, carry out and catering that they offer at their other locations.

We assume the citizens of RD will certainly welcome C&G’s to their neighborhood!

Shalom Bombay to open a location in Murray Hill

We just received word from David Gruber, a partner from Shalom Bombay in Teaneck that they will be opening their first New York City location at 39th and Lexington on Sunday, April 11th.  This news coming a week after Dakshin II was titled as being the only Kosher Indian restaurant in NYC! Sorry that their reign did not last long however we here at Thanks a Glatt! love competition!

Shalom Bombay’s NYC location will feature a more upscale ambiance than their Teaneck counterpart.  Their menu will remain predominately the same however they will have more lunch and take-out specials (available to order via Seamless Web as well).  They will also be open on Fridays and will be under the Orthodox Union hechsher.

This might be my new favorite place to order from since I work semi-close to the neighborhood!

The best news though is that David mentioned that the first 50 people to email shalombombay@yahoo.com will be invited to an exclusive free tasting on April 8th!

Dakshin II now Glatt Kosher

The word on the street is (and their website states it) that Dakshin is now OK Kosher as of the weekend!  It hails itself as the first and ONLY Glatt Kosher Indian food in New York City!

Make sure you go to this location only because their other location is not certified!

My Most Favorite Food Opening Date!

We ate at My Most Favorite Food last night (review coming soon) and our waiter informed us that their new restaurant on the upper west side will be AMAZING and will be opening up on March 1st!  There will be sushi and an all new (dairy) menu to go with the restaurant!  He also mentioned that the 45th street location will be closing soon so they can renovate (we guess to match the standard of decor that will be in their new restaurant)!

If we are lucky they may bring the prices down too?! That’s wishful thinking! :)

Roya Kosher Pizza

Roya Kosher Pizza

Rating (out of 5):

In continuation of my boycott of La Pizzeria (horrible service, overpriced menu, sub-par food), I decided to grab a quick bite to eat tonight at Roya Kosher Pizza in Great Neck.  This hole in the wall pizzeria somehow continues to survive however anyone’s guess as to how is still a mystery.  With the except of Saturday Night and after Yom Tov’s (when they are smart enough to open) this place is usually pretty dead.  Being tucked in the back of an outdated shopping center doesn’t help their case either.

2012 Cafe in Great Neck?

Does anyone know anything about this 2012 Cafe in Great Neck?  This awning has been up for a while but I can’t seem to find any more information about it other than the rumor that it is going to be a “bootlegged Carlos and Gabby’s”.  If you know anything please drop us a line in the comments!

PS.  The awning has a picture of a burger, fries, and a pita so we will assume it is a burger joint.
