Shabazille, a new dairy/sushi spot is having their grand opening in Brooklyn. They are going to be under the Supervision of Rabbi David Navarro (has anyone ever heard of these guys?) They are still finalizing their hours/menu so we will update this once we know more.
The best news about this? To celebrate they are having a free tasting this Sunday at 7:00pm!
The owners say they are new to the restaurant business so lets help them out!

Funny thing happened on the way to work today. I took a different route than my normal one in order to get a haircut, when he was too busy I left and stumbled upon this amazing kosher cart parked at the northwest corner of 23rd and Park Avenue! Quick Stop Kosher‘s menu ranges from a full line of breakfast sandwiches (eggs, bagels, omelettes) to coffees, falafels (he says it is Moshes Falafel, his cart seems to have dissapeared so many this is the replacement?), salads, french fries and something new, WAFFLES! QSK is certified kosher by Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Schreiber – The Presburger Hechsher (first time I heard about this hechsher, if anyone has any info about them please let us know). Their food looks amazing! Everyone in the area be sure to check him out and support them so they stay in the neighborhood! We need a kosher joint in Flatiron/Gramercy!
PS. From the looks of their Facebook page they seem to move around the city quite a bit so be sure to follow them there to see where they are going to be!

Did you hear that Kosher world? New York City has announced today that they will begin grading restaurants similar to how they do it in Los Angeles. Restaurants with 0 to 13 “violation points” will receive an A. Scores of 14 to 27 points are a B, and 28 or more results in a C. The Department hopes the new rating system will save time. Restaurants with A grades will be inspected yearly, while those with Bs will be every 5 to 7 months and those with Cs every 3 to 5 months. Restaurants can appeal grades, too, and receive a “Grade Pending” sign to post in lieu of the contested letter until a re-inspection is conducted one month later.
They expect most restaurants to receive a B but we think the average will be much lower in the Kosher world. Numerous restaurants have been shut down before because of rats cleanliness, hopefully this will cause them to clean up their act! Or at least hide things under the counters better!
How do you think this will effect the industry? Do you know of any restaurants that deserve an F?

Terri is now kosher under the IKC! I have walked by this place many times and thought it was only a juice bar but apparently they offer a wide range of Vegan/Organic sandwiches and wraps as well as having fresh fruit and veggie smoothies. Have you been here before? Let us know how it is in the comments! Also, does anyone know much about the International Kosher Council as far as how good their hechsher is? Holla at us and let us know!
