Shiraz restaurant opens up in Great Neck

Had a chance to check out the new Shiraz Restaurant (formerly Danny’s) tonight in Great Neck.  The renovations look great (we hope to see more kosher restaurants renovate their places as nice as this place) and the food is nice, tasty and authentic Persian style.  In addition to that they have a full menu that includes fresh sushi, steaks, Italian food and more. They did have some kinks that need to be fixing but that always happens at a new restaurant and we are sure they will have everything squared away shortly.

Eighteen Restaurant on the Upper East Side now open

A new Glatt Kosher Restaurant, Eighteen Restaurant has opened up on the Upper East Side at 240 East 81 street in the old Turquoise location.

Their menu will consist of deli, grill, and sushi (what a surprise, a kosher restaurant that also serves sushi!).  At $15-$18 on average for a burger, $18 for a sandwich, and around $20 for their salads this place looks to be a bit pricey.

If you have have a chance to go here drop us a line in the comments and let us know if it’s worth it!

Rating (out of 5):

This is my wife’s favorite place to get sushi.  Always fresh, always tasty and the presentation is excellent (see slide show).

I wasn’t so hungry this time (it was after Shabbat) so we only got two rolls – the Mexican($8.95) and the Ninja($7.95) roll. (see slide show).

For specialty rolls this is a great deal as most places charge $10+ for the same thing (and it doesn’t even taste as good!)  The Mexican roll has fresh jalapeño on top which gives it an amazing spicy taste and their avacados are unbelievably fresh which makes Ninja roll is remarkable.  If you have a bigger appetite try the Leo roll and it was great as well.  They put fried onions on top and we all know fried onions make everything better!

They have the spicy mayo and eel sauce (it’s kosher, duh!!) self serve so you can get as much as you want.

Open Saturday nights and they have three chefs so u don’t have to wait long to get your food.

You know what I REALLY like about this place?  It is just a sushi restaurant.  That’s it.  Not a Pizzeria + Sushi.  Not a steakhouse + sushi.  They do one thing and they do it well instead of trying to do everything like most all kosher restaurants do.

Great place for a casual date or if u want to chill with some of your girlfriends and as you can see the place is nice and clean.

It’s a keeper!

The Prime Grill to open Japanese Restaurant “Prime KO” on the UWS

The Prime Grills new restaurant, Prime KO is under construction and set to open up towards the end of February.  The Japanese Steakhouse and full Sushi bar (sounds like another Sushi Metsuyan/Estihana) claims it will have moderate pricing (not sure what that means in the Kosher restaurant biz).

There will be two party rooms that can accommodate up to 100 people so there may finally be somewhere else to go other than Clubhouse to celebrate.

It will be located at 217 West 85th Street (off of Broadway). map

Do you think you will eat there??

Cafe Muscat

Rating (out of 5):

In an effort to be more social since life seems to be moving faster than ever,  I have decided to go out more with old friends and family.  The first place I started with was last night at Cafe Muscat a Kosher Dairy restaurant in Flushing Meadows (Queens) New York.

Saturday nights at Cafe Muscat always seem like a mistake however our options for Kosher dairy are limited.  When we arrived there we weren’t surprised.  We had the choice of waiting at the door while hovering over peoples tables or just sitting in the car so we chose the ladder.  About 30 minutes later they finally had a table for us.  You should have seen the look on the other peoples faces when we walked right in and got a table!

New Kosher sushi “Cafe 11″ opened downtown

Cafe 11 opened its doors last week at in the lobby at 11 Broadway in lower Manhattan!

They have a full-time sushi chef on the premise preparing fresh sushi daily.  They will also be serving sushi, salads, wraps and desserts!

They are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union which isn’t a surprise – their headquarters are upstairs in this same building!
